FIREWORK NIGHT

Introduction

1st Kesgrave Scout Group have been running firework nights at least since the beginning of the 1980’s. Originally in the garden of Brian Clow’s in Bell Lane (just opposite Heath School entrance) as a group event for up to 60 people; moving on to the Community Centre when it opened in the early 1990’s and attracting around a 1000 people and since 2002 working with the Parent and Friends Association’s of Bell Lane, Cedarwood and Gorseland, together with the Firework Emporium attracting over 3000 people. We usually have live music provided by a local youth band and a few rides and stalls.

The Joint PFA and Scout Group Firework Committee have decided not to run the event in 2009. This is for a variety of reasons but the main ones are:

We would like to thank the community and the people who have volunteered to undertake the many roles to run the event, for their support over the years and without which this event could not have been so successful. However, the current committee feel it is time to call it a day. If anyone else would like to consider taking over and running this event we would be more than happy to provide advice on what it takes to put it on.
