MEMBERSHIP FEES

Introduction

Each member is asked to pay a membership fee and this is collected termly. We run a Gift Aid declaration scheme for the payment of fees which allows the Group as a charity to recover the tax paid by the members parents. The fee year runs from April to March and further details for 2007/8 are given below.

Fees

The Executive Committee have have set the membership fee of each member of the Group at £24.00 per term (ie £72.00 per year). Last year fees were also £72.00

The Group have already paid £28.20 per member to District and Headquarters for membership fees for the year.

The balance of the membership fees (£72.00 - £28.20 = £43.80) plus income from hiring the HQ will be used to meet the running costs of the Group ie badges, section expenses and the up keep of the hall.

Gift Aid

We have a gift aid scheme for reclaiming the tax on fees. This means that the group can reclaim money from the Inland Revenue and this year we can claim £18.00. Last year we reclaimed over £3,000.

Many parents have signed a declaration already and technically do not need to sign again. But to keep things simple we ask them to sign again each term on the fee envelope to confirm that they are still a taxpayer and that their details have not changed.

If you are a parent and did not sign last year then please consider signing this year. Just complete the envelope which is worth £18.20 to the Group and will cover all payments made since 6 April 2000.

Pay Online

You may pay your fees online if you wish the details are:

Please email celia.m.comber@btinternet.com if you pay this way and tell your section leader as it can take a while to appear on a bank statement and sometimes there are not always sufficient details to identify the payer.

What do you need to do at the beginning of each term?

Fill in the section on the fees envelope and return with your fees for the term or year to your section leader.

Please note if you are not a taxpayer then the Group cannot recover the tax. Therefore please ensure that the envelope is completed by a parent/guardian who pays tax and will pay at least £19.74 in tax this year.

Don’t forget to enter the amount paid for fees last year on your tax return. The amount due was £24.00 per term (£72.00 per year).
